Gulangyu hosts Sino-French Dialogue forum
Gulangyu last week hosted a forum entitled Sino-French Dialogue: Mutual Learning between Chinese and French Civilizations -- Protection, Inheritance and Development of Gulangyu.
The China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration and the city of Xiamen sponsored the forum. Event organizers included China Today magazine, Xiamen Foreign Affairs Office and the Xiamen Gulangyu-Wanshi Mountain Scenic Spot Area Management Committee.
Attendees and speakers included Jean-Pierre Raffarin, the former French prime minister, Shahbaz Khina, Unesco's Beijing office representative, Gao Anming, the vice-president and editor-in-chief of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration and Lin Jian, the deputy mayor of Xiamen.
Jean-Jacques Aillagon, the former French Minister of Culture and the current chairman of the Nice World Heritage Nomination Committee, headlined a discussion on the preservation, inheritance, revitalization and development of Gulangyu with participants including Chinese and French experts in the field of architectural heritage protection for an in-depth.
